3 Reasons To Consider Signing Your Kids Up For a Wellness Class This School Year

As a parent, you want your child to live a happy and healthy life but current circumstances make it difficult to thrive socially and emotionally.  In the past, your children found meaningful connections with peers through school interactions. While this school year looks a little different, we believe your child should not struggle to find meaningful and safe connections. We’re committed to helping your family achieve personal growth and fulfillment despite current circumstances. Our wellness classes are a great way to give your children a sense of normal and an opportunity to thrive. Here are 3 reasons to consider signing your kids up for a wellness class this school year.

Safe Socialization For Kids

Social interaction helps children develop their sense of self, create boundaries, and learn problem-solving skills. In addition, socialization skills are necessary to develop responsibility, emotional awareness, and respect.  As your emotional support team, we have created safe opportunities through wellness classes for kids to come together virtually or in small groups to practice these skills alongside age-appropriate peers. Many safety measures are being taken for all in-person classes, so you can rest assured your children are in a safe and clean environment. Proper mask wearing, temperature checks prior to entry, 6 foot physical distancing at all times, personal materials and space, and thorough cleaning with disinfectant between classes will be reinforced and implemented. We do not want safety concerns to be a barrier to your child's socialization. Check out our COVID19 policies and procedures  to ease your mind. We also invite you to come to our open house on August 30th by appointment to see the space for yourself!

Increased Creativity

Creativity is essential to the process of self-expression. Art, music, movement, writing, and play are needed in a child’s life to enhance their development and emotional health. Involvement in creative experiences helps children express and cope with their feelings and provide opportunities for new ways of thinking. Increasing creative activities with others celebrates uniqueness and diversity. Within our courses, kids will be provided with a variety of experiences to foster creativity to include music and art, storybook design, songwriting, and academic support through music. Each class will provide opportunities for the child to develop independence and big-picture thinking allows each person to thrive. Regular attendance in our classes will motivate students to increase creativity and be inventive, a sought after 21st century learning skill.

Decreased Anxiety

Anxiety has become a common emotional state amongst many of us, and our children. Although it is a natural response to stress, over time, it can become intense and debilitating. While adults may be used to the on-edge or overwhelming feelings, children are not. Creative activities provide a way for children to communicate complex thoughts and feelings. By encouraging children to attend and invest energy into extracurricular activities, anxiety can decrease. Our Wellness Classes will focus on decreasing anxiety through self-expression, fun experiences, academic support, and socialization. Through regular practice in self-expression, children are able to see many solutions to a problem, better preparing them to handle difficult, frustrating or uncertain situations and conversations. This practice gives students the confidence to translate skills into other areas of life.
