Mental Health Counseling

Our mental health counselors help clients achieve personal growth and fulfillment through traditional talk therapy techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, expressive therapies and mindfulness strategies. Clients create a treatment plan and goals alongside their counselor and often see clients on an ongoing weekly basis. Therapists work with clients to create a safe and calm space to be heard and supported. After counseling, clients report less anxiety and worry, better time management, and a change in self-confidence.

Clinicians

At Healing Sounds, we have two levels of trained clinicians. Some of our counselors are Residents in Counseling. This means they have completed their Master’s degrees and are under the supervision of Anna as they work toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Alyssa is a Licensed Professional Counselor and provides supervision to the residents. Anna and Cori are also LPCs.

Counselors use a variety of talk therapy techniques to include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In addition, you may find that using expressive therapies helps you find the voice you have been looking for.

Our clinicians have a range of experiences to include working in settings like juvenile detention and probation, school counseling offices and inpatient and outpatient behavioral health hospitals. With this said, we work with people of all ages with special focus on teens, young adults, and women.

All of our counselors accept Medicaid (Anthem Health Keepers, Aetna Better Health, Optum and Optima) and private pay. In addition, some of our therapists accept some traditional managed care insurance plans like Anthem BCBS, Aetna and United.
