Funding and Insurance FAQ

Do you take insurance?

Art therapy, play therapy, and counseling services are billable to insurance under psychotherapy.

At this time, music therapy cannot be billed to insurance in Virginia. However, we can bill Medicaid for mental health counseling when utilizing music therapy interventions.  Through your patient portal, you can also access a superbill with the appropriate CPT and diagnostic codes in order to attempt partial reimbursement after paying your invoice with Healing Sounds. This has been successful when treatment goals are related to communication, physical needs, sensory processing and cognitive function.

What do your services cost?

Because of the spectrum of services we offer, we have a range of pricing. Cost depends on service, frequency and length of session as well as if the service is completed in our office, in-home or in a facility. Below is a guide, however we suggest that you speak with our scheduler to get more specific information about which service is right for you.  Keep in mind that some services are covered through outside funding sources like insurance and therefore prices do not reflect your responsibility of the insurance shared costs.

Prices are per session:

Lessons

$35-$65

Creative arts groups/classes

$20-$50

Music Therapy

$55-$125

Art Therapy/Play Therapy/Counseling

$40-$185

Music Therapy can also be funded through your child’s IEP if deemed necessary for their education. Learn more about IEP music therapy here.

Music therapy and counseling services can be paid through the use of Health Savings Accounts, Health Reimbursement Account, Flexible Spending Accounts and for our summer programs, you can use your Dependent Savings Account.  In addition, many clients receive scholarships and grants or funding through Individual and Family Support Programs (IFSP) or other community service organizations.
