Job Title: Art Therapist, Resident in Counseling

Healing Sounds, LLC, established in 2009, is a private practice operating in and around North Chesterfield, VA. Although the business started in 2009, it began to take development as a full spectrum group practice in 2017 offering mental health counseling in addition to music therapy, music lessons and wellness classes. In 2021 we welcomed our first art therapist and we continue to expand into expressive therapies. Our team of therapists are hard-working, provide top quality services, and display effective interpersonal skills. This is a highly motivated and experienced art therapist position that can work independently and easily join the team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s in Art Therapy and Counseling

  • ATR-BC

  • Pre-licensure status as a Resident in Counseling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Virginia License as a professional counselor or social worker

  • Play therapy training

  • DBT or EMDR training

  • CSAC

Summary of Responsibilities:

This engaging full-time position will include after school, evening, and weekend work. Under the supervision of the CEO, the therapist will provide individual therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults with emotional and behavioral health needs. The position also includes working with groups of individuals in a substance abuse recovery program for art therapy. The applicant must be willing to do both telehealth sessions and in-person sessions. The applicant will be required to participate in a background check, maintain HIPAA compliance, stay up to date with vaccinations, and provide references.

Duties:

  • Manage all aspects of delivering exceptional services to a mixed caseload of individual and group clients.

  • Lead/co-lead groups utilizing an expressive approach to skills.

  • Creatively design goal-oriented session plans using best practices.

  • Maintain stellar documentation through electronic health records system.

  • Implement technology into sessions and troubleshoot technology issues with clients.

  • Organization, ownership and flexibility of maintaining schedule.

  • Ability to understand and incorporate director, supervisor or client feedback.

  • Accomplish projects as assigned and attain a high level of quality on or before deadlines.

  • Collaborate with team members in program planning, service delivery, and marketing and development as needed.

  • Ability to work with team members to establish best practice yet assertive and independent enough to complete tasks on own.

  • Track hours through our internal system accurately and promptly.

  • Make ethical decisions according to the professional code of ethics and to seek supervision in a respectful and solution focused manner.
