Natalie Morison-Uzzle, MS, LPC, ATR-BC

Pronouns: she/her

Natalie is an art therapist and resident in counseling. She graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School with her Master’s in Art Therapy and Counseling in 2019 and has experience working in the psychiatric inpatient and partial hospitalization settings with adults seeking treatment for psychosis, substance abuse, and mood disorders. She enjoys exploring the healing power of nature with clients through the use of eco-art therapy, animal symbolism, dream interpretation, watercolor painting, and collage.  Natalie also utilizes play therapy techniques in her creative work with children. She believes we all speak an inherently creative language when we are able to replace judgment with self-compassion and allow ourselves the freedom to create, explore, play, and reconnect to our wise inner self.

Natalie works with clients of all ages, but specializes in working with children and teens dealing with mental health challenges.

What is your role at Healing Sounds?

I try to bring a bit of levity to most things I do which includes showing clients of all ages that big healing moments can happen with the use of humor and self-compassion despite the heaviness we may encounter in art therapy.

What are 3 words that describe you?

Passionate, fun-loving, dedicated.

What is your preferred art medium?

I really can't choose just one...it's a tie between found items/collage and clay! Both are super versatile and forgiving mediums.

What is something you like to do outside of work?

When I'm not being a therapist, I like to appreciate art by Etsy scrolling, movie watching, music listening, and getting outside. I enjoy turning my kitchen table into my workshop spot and treating my oven as a kiln for all my cute clay creations :-)

What do you love most about working at Healing Sounds?

Being valued as an individual is pretty important to me as someone who is learning to own their neurodivergence and is also an enneagram 4 (The Individualist) and I can say that I know my strengths are valued on my team!

What should potential clients know about working with you?

I adhere to the belief that humans are "self-healing machines" by nature and sometimes we just need help learning how to take care of ourselves and reach out to others for support. Also - I am working towards getting certified in play therapy!
