Hayley is an art therapist and resident in counseling. She graduated from EVMS with a Master’s in Art Therapy and Counseling in Spring of 2022. Prior to becoming an art therapist, Hayley worked as a floral designer and incorporates her appreciation of natural materials through eco-art therapy. Hayley has experience providing art therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults with unique backgrounds through individual and group therapy. She also has experience providing clinical care in psychiatric, residential, day-support, and school programs. Hayley has worked with adults with various physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities, adapting art therapy processes and materials to meet their individual needs and recognizing art not only as a source of comfort, but also as a communication tool. Through a person-centered and holistic lens, Hayley customizes treatment to meet each client’s unique needs.

Hayley works with clients ages 13 and up, and is passionate about working with individuals who are battling substance abuse, depression and anxiety, are healing from sexual abuse/trauma, those with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

What is your preferred art medium? 

My favorite mediums are painting and any thing that can be considered a “craft” I’ve really been enjoying working with textiles and yarns, weaving, doll making, crocheting and more! 

What is something you like to do outside of work?

I love to cook, garden (weather permitting), spend time with my friends, go to the river and make lots of art! 

What do you love most about working at Healing Sounds?

Being able to work with a wide range of populations, also work with people in individual and group settings. 

What should potential clients know about working with you?

I take a very person-centered approach when it comes to therapy and meet clients wherever they are in the therapeutic process, encouraging them to use art as a tool to explore, process and heal.
